Tomorrow is the big showdown. The United States vs. Canada. Olympic men’s hockey semifinal. The winner plays for gold. The loser plays for bronze.

Who will local Penguins fans root for?

I’m not sure the answer is so obvious.

National allegiance is with the U.S., obviously. But Sidney Crosby is the beating heart of the Penguins. Definitely the most popular Penguins player.

In 2010, I was rooting for the U.S. in the gold-medal game vs. Canada. But I was very happy for Sid when he scored the winner in overtime. I’m a Crosby guy. I found myself not at all displeased with the result. Sorry, Herb.

Vote, please, in today’s poll: Who are you rooting for, the U.S. or Sid?
