Gene Simmons “Vigorously” Denies Sexual Misconduct Claims

Kiss frontman Gene Simmons has released a statement denying any wrongdoing after a California radio and TV broadcaster filed a lawsuit accusing him of sexual misconduct.

The woman, who is listed under the pseudonym Jane Doe, accused Simmons of “unwarranted, unwanted sexual advances, touching, and battery” in the lawsuit. The incident took place during an interview at the Rock & Brews restaurant in San Bernardino, where Simmons allegedly made "several aggressive, unwanted sexual advances, despite Doe’s active and clear discouragement.”

The court papers also state that Simmons “reached over and grabbed Doe’s hand and forcefully placed it on his knee and held it on his knee.” Doe withdrew her hand but later in the interview, it’s alleged that Simmons again reached for her, but Doe “was able to push his hand away with her elbow before he touched her hand.”

In the most bizarre accusation, Simmons turned each question into sexual innuendo, reached for Doe's hand and then “forcibly flicked/struck Doe in the middle of her throat” which caused her to attempt to shut down the interview. Simmons is also being accused of groping Doe during a group photo, where he “reached towards Doe’s buttocks and touched it.”

Simmons posted a statement denying the allegations on Facebook, saying he intends to defend himself against the charges and "vigorously" denies them. Read his full statement below:

Friends,

I intend to defend myself against any alleged charges you may have been reading about in the media.

For the record, I did not assault the person making these accusations in the manner alleged in the complaint or harm her in any way.

I am conferring with my lawyers with the aim of vigorously countering these allegations.

And I look forward to my day in court where the evidence will prove my innocence.

Last month, Simmons released an apology after he was banned for life from Fox News for reportedly barging in on a meeting with his shirt opening, yelling "hey chicks, sue me,” while hurling insults at the staff.
