National Cactus Day was May 10, and I celebrated with a groovy succulent planting to "Fly Away" by Lenny Kravitz! I have yet to find out what type this baby is, but this was one of the rescues from Walmart. Many places don't realize that succulents hardly need any water at all, and this guy was SOAKED when I got him. This one actually wasn't even in a planter; instead, it was just a pile of soaking wet dirt in the garden center. I was able to find a random empty pot to carefully transfer him into, and then the nurturing process began! He was removed from the soaking wet dirt where I was able to gently de clump the dirt all around the roots and check for black roots. Luckily, he was still in good shape and could be saved! I placed him on my desk to allow the roots to dry for two days to prevent root rot, and the rest is history!
