Meet The Hawkeyes, a Pittsburgh rock band with attitude comprised of Jay Wiley, Braden Nicols, and two newer members, Noah Meyers and Luke Zajdel. They attribute "rustbelt grit" to their sound in their bio, an incredibly accurate description, only before they casually list the stages they have shared with the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Collective Soul, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and more. The Hawkeyes have also performed as the house band at Heinz Field during the 2017 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series game when the Penguins faced the Flyers.
The band has two albums, the latest of which contains the single, "Now or Never," a single in rotation for the rest of the month on the X part of Hometown for the Holidays. The album, Ever for After, released last year under Misra Records with a solid writeup from Scott Tady of the Beaver County Times, who reminded us that The Hawkeyes are no strangers to airplay - they have had their music on our brother station and classic rock heavy-hitter, 102.5 WDVE. "Taken off their latest album ‘Ever for After’, ‘Wanted Man‘ is a fiery rock thunderbolt through the sky and into our souls. This band really rocks and I love the fire in their music style. There is a lot of grit and determination from the Pittsburgh group The Hawkeyes who just make awesome tracks." Llewelyn Screen - A&R Factory
“Like The Struts, The Hawkeyes are creating music that can’t be contained in a small venue.” Danny Rome - Steppin' Out Magazine
The Hawkeyes are currently writing with Sean McDonald (Red Medicine Studios) and are busy with pre-production for new music headed our way in the new year.
While you're enjoying "Now or Never" on the X, check out the music video below for "Wanted Man," which the band released just a few weeks ago. Both songs can be found on The Hawkeyes' sophomore album Ever for After, available wherever you get your music.
