In 1979, RF Dave Parker won the MLB All-Star Game MVP with an unbelievable display of throwing: He gunned one runner out at home plate, and another out at third base. Parker’s arm very nearly rivaled Roberto Clemente’s.
Parker remains the only Pirate to be All-Star Game MVP. The Pirates won the World Series in 1979, the last time they’ve done so, and won every MVP possible: Parker was All-Star Game MVP, and Willie Stargell was co-NL MVP, NLCS MVP and World Series MVP.
