Have you ever seen the Flyers win the Cup?
It doesn’t happen in this video.
On this date in 1976, the Montreal Canadiens won 5-3 at Philadelphia, thus sweeping the Flyers in the Stanley Cup Final and ending the Flyers’ two-year reign of on-ice terrorism.
It some ways, the fun was just beginning.
The Flyers have since lost in the Stanley Cup Final five more times: 1980 to the New York Islanders, 1985 to Edmonton, 1987 to Edmonton, 1997 to Detroit and 2010 to Chicago. Every player on every one of those teams deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.
