I finally saw “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Utterly brilliant, mostly accurate, and a fitting tribute to the memory of Queen singer Freddie Mercury. #OneOfAKind
The movie ended with Queen’s performance at Live Aid in 1985. Most of the world’s biggest bands were on that day’s bill, and Queen utterly stole the show.
No group has ever performed better than Queen at Live Aid. That’s regardless of venue, crowd, era and circumstance. Whoever finishes second does so by considerable length. Witness “Radio Ga Ga.” The world is in the palm of Freddie’s hand.
Here’s a reminder: A video of Queen’s entire performance at Live Aid, and a side-by-side comparison of Queen at Live Aid and the recreation in “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
Rami Malek was marvelous as Freddie Mercury. Queen fans owe him a huge debt of gratitude for capturing and channeling Freddie so well.
