Actually, ex-Steeler Brett Keisel did quit his day job. He retired in 2015. (That locker room badly misses him.)
In this video, Keisel says he missed his calling as a hockey player. (That’s not true.)
But hockey is fun even if you’re not that good. Who would know better than ex-Penguin Colby Armstrong? Uh, wait…
Keisel lost a bet to Armstrong at the WDVE Rocks Children’s Hospital Radiothon, as Armstrong raised more money than Keisel during a given hour. So, as per the terms of the wager, Keisel got on the ice with Armstrong for a session of learn-to-play-hockey.
Ice rinks host those all the time - for kids, not 6-foot-5 40-year-olds.
Keisel did fine. He nearly injured himself celebrating a goal, but at least he scored.
Ex-Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham – Canadian and thus, a hockey expert – pitched in. Mario Lemieux and Ben Roethlisberger make cameos. (But I don’t think that’s really Ben in goal.)
