VERLANDER = HORSE’S ASS

Last week, Houston pitcher Justin Verlander got a Detroit reporter barred from the Astros’ clubhouse.

Last night, Verlander got ejected for arguing balls and strikes. The Astros were up 9-o against visiting Tampa. Verlander had given up three hits and no runs in 5-1/3 innings. He and the Astros were cruising in a game Houston ultimately won, 15-1.

With a 2-2 count, Verlander threw a pitch that appeared to be a strike. Home plate umpire Pat Hoberg called it a ball. Batter Tommy Phan doubled on the next pitch. Verlander went ballistic and got ejected. (See video below. Language NSFW.)

The jock-sniffing fanboy media presents this as Verlander being a perfectionist and a great competitor.

It’s none of the above. Verlander behaved like a horse’s ass. You’re up 9-o. Get the ball and pitch to the next batter. Be a professional.

Big-time athletes get more insufferable every day. Verlander might be the poster boy for that regrettable trend.
