Every Sunday night DC101 plays over 90 minutes of brand new music. It's called the New Music Mart and it's your opportunity to hear the next wave of alternative rock hit songs. But you aren't just listening. This is also your chance to tell us what songs you think should be added to the DC101 playlist!
We take your input combined with our special sauce, throw it into a pot, and come up with new songs to add to the DC101 playlist.
Make your voice heard! Listen to the New Music Mart every Sunday night starting at 10pm. Take notes on what songs you like, what songs, you don't like, what songs you need to hear a few more times, etc. Then email roche@dc101.com with all your thoughts. You could be the one who picks the next big hit on DC101!
And if you ever miss and episode or want a few more listens to a song before making a decision, hit up the iHeartRadio app to listen to the latest episode.
This week, we had New Music Mart debuts for Jelly Roll, The 1975, and, Bakar!
In addition, Grouplove, "Hello" has been added to the DC101 playlist.
Some of my current favorites on the Mart are:
M83, "Amnesia" -it doesn't have sax but it does have the infectious sound that M83 have perfected over the last decade plus.
Beabadoobee, "the perfect pair" -I love Juliana Hatfield and beabadoobee is Juliana incarnate.
Wet Leg, "Angelica" -another banger from the Grammy Award winners.
Jelly Roll, "Need A Favor" - I first heard Jelly Roll a few years ago in the back of an Uber in Charleston, SC. His genre bending sound has been a favorite of mine ever since.
