T.J. McConnell’s playing time with the Philadelphia 76ers is increasing.
The Chartiers Valley High School and University of Arizona product didn’t play at all during six games in December. But now Markelle Fultz – the No. 1 draft pick overall in 2017 and, like McConnell, a guard – is out indefinitely with a nerve disorder, so McConnell has averaged 23 minutes of court time over the last five games.
Not surprisingly, the Sixers won four of those. McConnell is a classic point guard, a vanishing breed. He helps his team win, and helps star players shine.
The Sixers’ Jimmy Butler is a star player. He was acquired from Minnesota Nov. 12. Butler is a McConnell fan, to such an extent that his language is NSFW.
