MSG IS JERICHO

All Elite Wrestling world champion Chris Jericho took in the New York Rangers’ opener last night at Madison Square Garden. He wore a Rangers sweater. The Rangers won, 6-4.

But #LeChampion wasn’t happy with that result.

Jericho wore a Rangers No. 27 jersey because his father, Ted Irvine, played for the Rangers from 1970-75. But Jericho grew up in Winnipeg and roots for the Jets, who did the job for the Rangers at MSG last night.

Ted Irvine could play: 331 points in 724 NHL games and a tough customer when called upon. (Not to be confused with NHL Hall-of-Famer Ted Lindsay, although Ric Flair once did, and Mr. Irvine was too nice to correct him.)

AEW’s premiere on TNT Wednesday was very good. I grade it a “B”. The announcing was brilliant: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Excalibur smoothed over the rough edges, didn’t get in each other’s way, and gave it a real-sports feel. It’s amazing what a professional announcer can do without some jackass screaming in their headset.

But make no mistake about the straw that stirs the drink: AEW IS JERICHO! If you claim otherwise, you’re part of the conspiracy. (Remember that routine?)
