GEICO’S RATT PROBLEM

Geico keeps coming up with awesome commercials. The latest is a couple talking about their house having a “rat problem,” but the problem turns out to be Ratt playing “Round and Round” in their basement, kitchen and bathroom.

It’s the current Ratt, which means no Bobby Blotzer from Turtle Creek on drums. The only glory-days members are vocalist Stephen Pearcy and bassist Juan Croucier.

The Geico ad is vaguely reminiscent of the song’s original video from 1984, which featured old-timey comedian Milton Berle (his nephew Marshall Berle was Ratt’s manager) and saw then-guitarist Warren DeMartini crash through a ceiling to solo on a dining-room table in the middle of a fancy dinner party.

Watching the original video made me think of the late Robbin Crosby. RIP King: A tremendous guitar player and one of rock’s all-time great guys.
