CHARGERS BEAT STEELERS, 1994: YOU CRIED

Only Sid Bream kept the 1994 AFC championship game from being the worst loss in Pittsburgh sports history. (To read my column on the city's five most disappointing defeats, click HERE.)

The Steelers were at home and favored by 11 over San Diego. But the Chargers were gritty that day, and the Steelers were lackluster.

The Steelers reached Super Bowl XXX (and lost to Dallas) a year later. That didn’t dull the pain of being upset by San Diego. (But the Steelers would have likely been routed by San Francisco, who crushed the Chargers 49-26 in Super Bowl XXIX.)
