Here’s your 90’s Video of the Day: Third Eye Blind "Losing A Whole Year"

Because we love ‘em all. Here’s your 90’s Video of the Day

Third Eye Blind “Losing A Whole Year”

Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins has always said this song is about lamenting the end of a relationship and the time lost on it, but in our current situation I think we can take it pretty literally at this point if we want.

For Stephan, it was about a “rich girl from Bernal Heights.” There’s three girls in the video who look slightly psychotic (and in my opinion a bit hungry), but their laughter in the video is to show the superficiality of one partner not taking things as seriously as the other. Stephan was so deep in this particular relationship that he wasn’t noticing the things going on around him no matter how chaotic; hence the car crash at the end, which could also be seen as a signifier of the relationship ending.

The band was intending this to be the single for their debut, but the record label guided them towards “Semi Charmed Life,” which was a pretty good call. However, this song is indeed great, so it gets the love today.
