K’s Choice - Not An Addict

Addiction is never an easy subject, but the combination of compassion, grit, and vulnerability in which K’s Choice explored it helped it connect with a larger alternative music audience. From Belgium, the band’s singer Sam Bennet, passionately shared a personal experience with addiction and the authenticity of the performance felt like reading someone’s diary.

The song is not designed to glorify drugs of course, and like a lot of songs that dare to dive into addiction as a subject matter, was a bit misunderstood. Sam Bennet did his best to explain saying the issue wasn’t “black or white” and that it was not either pro or anti-drug. It was an understanding of complicated nature of addiction and the many faces it has.
