ONE TWEET SAYS IT ALL

Here’s what ESPN’s Linda Cohn tweeted about the sudden and unexpected trade of ex-Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury from Vegas to Chicago:

That’s extremely (and unfortunately) accurate.

Then-Penguins GM Jim Rutherford had a deal in place to re-acquire Fleury during the 2020 off-season.

But Vegas owner Bill Foley vetoed that swap because of Fleury’s value to the franchise since its inception in 2017.

All that loyalty and sentiment somehow vanished in a year’s time despite Fleury winning the Vezina.

Foley didn’t call Fleury to tell him he’d been traded. Fleury found out on Twitter.

Like Cohn says: Disrespected and underappreciated.
