BACK TO THE FUTURE…AGAIN

Ernie Johnson will be too busy with NBA coverage to host Turner Sports’ NLCS studio show this fall.

So, Bob Costas will take over.

Costas is an all-time great on the mic and a true student of baseball.

But he’s 69. Costas defines overexposed.

Isn’t this a good opportunity to anoint a younger broadcaster that’s up and coming? Why do situations like this always go back to the future?

If you want to draw an analogy involving the current state of pro wrestling, I’m listening.

It doesn’t matter to me. I won’t watch the NLCS unless the Pirates make it.

I tuned in briefly to the Little League World Series and saw a sequence where a hitter laid down a perfect bunt with a runner on first base. The first baseman fielded the ball and threw to the second baseman covering first. Solid play by everybody involved.

I got confused for a moment: Why did that look so weird?

Then it hit me: THEY’RE ACTUALLY PLAYING BASEBALL.
