I’m told the Steelers like Adoree Jackson, a CB from Southern Cal, and would take him with the 30th pick of the draft if he’s available. The odds of Jackson going before No. 30 seem fairly long, so...
Some pundits feel the Steelers should select Michigan S Jabrill Peppers, but a multitude of reasons dictate against:
*The Steelers have needs much more pressing than at safety.
*Peppers tested positive for a diluted urine sample at the NFL combine. Martavis Bryant, Le’Veon Bell – don't the Steelers have enough headaches like that?
*Peppers played LB, S and even some offense at Michigan. Is he the jack of all trades, but master of none? He only had one interception in three years. Are his deep coverage skills up to par?
The Steelers should pass on Peppers.
Don’t dismiss the notion of the Steelers taking a WR in the first round. They shouldn’t trust Bryant to STAY OFF THE WEED, and they’re always looking to get new toys for Ben Roethlisberger to play with in his career’s twilight.
The Steelers never project rookies to help very much. But Artie Burns, Sean Davis and Javon Hargrave all played significant roles last year.
Circumstance dictated. It always does.
