As a Long Island native, Madison Beer loves any excuse to visit the east coast...especially when it involves eating bagels and hanging with Mo' Bounce at Z100. She happened to be home during her hometown high school's senior prom and the 18-year-old was having a bit of fomo at not going. "I would have loved to go, but no one asked me," Madison told Mo with a laugh. Nobody be surprised, though, if Madison shows up anyway with her adorable dogs Honey and Boo Boo in tow.
While going to senior prom is obviously a good time, Madison has more important things to worry about. You know, like her awesome now song 'Dead.' Mo' describes the new track as Madison's new sound on 'Dead' as "female version of The Weeknd." Madison welcomed the comparison, saying she's glad to be compared to somebody she "really likes and thinks is super talented."
She opened up about her decision to release 'Dead' as her lead single, saying she had to follow her gut instinct that it was the right choice when others were telling her it wasn't...including her dad. "I'm extremely grateful that I've come to a place in my artistry that I'm able to take songs and have an opinion on them," she explained. "I feel like I can disagree with what these men in suits are saying and I'm allowed to." Now that she's more involved with what music she's releasing, Madison feels connected to her songs in a way she never has before.
She also explained why she's grateful Justin Bieber helped discover her and jump start her career. After posting a cover of one his song's on YouTube, Justin responded to it on social media and the rest is history. "I'm really blessed and thankful for him putting me on like that and helping me," Madison said. "I'm also glad that's how it happened and not just a label picking me up something. Now I go about my career in a way that I want to be as big as him so that I can help someone else out. I want to discover someone. That's given me an outlook that I want to pass it forward."
We're loving 'Dead' and can't wait to hear the rest of the album. Thanks for stopping by, Madison!
