Tool's Danny Carey: New Album Definitely This Year

Waiting for a new Tool record is starting to feel a lot like waiting for new Necrophagist but human metronome, Danny Carey, is here to provide hope to the hopeless.

Speaking with Music Radar about his new supergroup, Legend of the Seagullmen, the topic of a new Tool release came up and Danny had this to say:

“All I can say is it’s still something in progress,” shrugs Carey – before the line goes ominously quiet. There’s a distant murmur in the background. “Definitely this year,” he laughs, before thanking us for the call and explaining he needs to rush off.

Carey has now vowed multiple times (previously to MetalSucks Podcast and Loudwire) that there will be new Tool this year. With bassist Justin Chancellor also telling MetalSucks Podcast that the album was 90% completed back in June, there is reason to believe that there will in fact be a new Tool record in 2018. We'll keep you updated as we learn more.
