SAME OLD STEELERS B.S.

According to ex-NFL coach (and ex-Steeler) Tony Dungy, the current Steelers are a “Super Bowl contender. You heard it here first.”

Not true. We hear it all the time.

Every year, the national media proclaims that the Steelers have a legit shot to reach the NFL's pinnacle, because...well, just because. Did you know Coach T has never had a losing season? THE TOMLIN FACTOR.

Then, every year, the Steelers fail to win a playoff game. For the last seven years, anyway.

The Steelers are more likely to finish last in the AFC North this season than they are to win a playoff game.

There is no logical way to proclaim the Steelers a "Super Bowl contender." The quarterback room is mediocre. They have gaping holes at wideout and cornerback. It's an era where passing is king in the NFL. They appear to be mangling their supposedly reconstructed offense line.

But every year we hear nutjob optimism from the Media Friends of Mike Tomlin. (Mostly on the national level. He treats the local media like excrement on his shoe.)

Why can't we just say the Steelers might be better? (They might be.)

Why does it always have to go straight to crazy talk?

THE STEELERS ARE NOT CLOSE TO BEING A SUPER BOWL CONTENDER. You heard it here first.
