THE McAFEE PHENOMENON

Pat McAfee is doing his ESPN/YouTube show in Morgantown, W. Va., on Friday. McAfee kicked and punted for West Virigina University from 2005-08.

It will be MAYHEM. A mob scene. Ten of thousands of people. Morgantown schools cancelled classes because of traffic concerns.

Such is the magic of McAfee and the bro revolution. He is insanely popular.

The last time WVU had a legit chance to win the national football championship, McAfee blew it.

Pitt went to Morgantown for the then-annual Backyard Brawl on Dec. 1, 2007. WVU was 10-1 and ranked No. 2 in the country. Pitt was 4-7.

If WVU wins, the Mountaineers go to their first-ever BCS national championship game with a chance to win their first-ever national championship.

Pitt won, 13-9. That's how the game is remembered: "13-9."

McAfee missed field goals of 20 and 32 yards. You do the math.

But McAfee is being welcomed back to Morgantown as a conquering hero. He's never been hated there, not even for a second. That's despite being the central figure in WVU's biggest sports disappointment.
