LAZARD TO STEELERS?

In light of the Steelers trading George Pickens and being stuck (again) without a No. 2 wideout, here's an excerpt from my latest TribLive.com column:

If the Steelers are in their usual "win-now" mode, their best bet is to sign Keenan Allen. He's 33, but he had 70 catches last year and a career-best 108 the year before. Allen is unsigned for a reason, but getting him would at least have positive potential.

But here's another thought: Perhaps trading Pickens paves the way for the Steelers to acquire WR Allen Lazard from the New York Jets. Then QB Aaron Rodgers finally signs.

Lazard and Rodgers are buddies dating back to their days in Green Bay. They went to the Jets together. Lazard doesn't have Pickens' talent, but he's a semi-legit No. 2 wideout.

This would mark Rodgers taking over as Steelers GM. Like he did with the Jets. That would ordinarily upset me, but Rodgers might be an upgrade from Omar Khan.
