BACK IN THE SADDLE

I did color commentary on wrestling matches for the first time in 25 years this past Friday when TNA Wrestling taped TV at the UPMC Events Center on the campus of Robert Morris University.

I didn't relaunch my wrestling career - not at 64 - but I did OK.

I got equal parts boos and cheers upon being introduced: "You have more heat than a lot of our talent!"

My broadcast partners were excellent: Tom Hannifan and Gia Miller. Quickly got me into a rhythm.

Two matches and done. Played it cool. Deferred. Didn't bigfoot. (How unlike me.)

Did a match that involved The System, TNA's top heel faction. That made me feel at home: nWo, Four Horsemen, etc.

I enjoyed reconnecting with old friends like Matt and Jeff Hardy, Lance Storm, Frankie Kazarian, Tommy Dreamer and Ross Forman.

It was fun being back in the culture. I'm shocked how many remembered me from WCW. (I didn't think I was all that memorable.)

Boy, can Joe Hendry cut a promo.

Had a good talk with Johnny Russo, NXT's head writer. What a bright wrestling mind. (NXT is WWE's developmental program. WWE and TNA are doing cross-promotion.)

I liked the show. TNA is an old-school promotion that isn't outdated. To me, that's a major strength.

So, that's that. Thanks to everybody involved. See you in 25 years.
