I always visit the Hockey Hall of Fame when I'm in Toronto. I've been there over 20 times.
You invariably notice something you previously hadn't.
This time, it was a display paying tribute to the late Valeri Kharlamov.
The electrifying winger was arguably the greatest Russian player ever.
Kharlamov and goaltender Vladislav Tretiak were undoubtedly the two best Russians that never played in the NHL. (There's a Tretiak exhibit, also.) Both were brilliant in the early meetings between Soviet "amateurs" and Canadian pros, particularly the 1972 Summit Series.
When exiting the Hall of Fame, I always buy something at the gift shop.
I like taking a little bit of the Hall of Fame home.
Among my purchases this time was a pair of Sidney Crosby socks. Which I won't wear.
I bought them so I could show them to Sid and poke fun. It's not the best likeness.
I hope the Hall of Fame does better when it comes time for Crosby's plaque.
