The Pirates are going to miss the playoffs.
The main reason is that Paul Skenes went from Cy Young to mediocre.
His ERA ballooned from 1.97 to 3.83.
The Pirates are 13-16 when he pitches.
The citizens prefer to blame manager Don Kelly, the bullpen, or injuries.
But Kelly wasn't supposed to be Manager of the Year.
The bullpen wasn't forecast to dominate.
Every team has to deal with players getting hurt.
Skenes is the reigning and defending National League Cy Young Award winner. He was supposed to be a sure thing.
But to most, Skenes is beyond blame.
Possibly because lots of Bucco fans wear Skenes merchandise.
Hero worship = merch = somebody else's fault.
