Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence

David Gahan really did go to all of the places in which you see him dressed in royal garb just ready to pop a squat. Ahh, videos before CGI and a drones huh?And sure it still feels like the 80's in a way, but this was released in 1990.

Originally written by Martin Gore as a ballad, fellow band member Alan Wilder and their producer, Flood, decided it should instead be an uptempo dance song. Rolling with the change, Martin then added that iconic guitar riff and the band said it was the first time they ever knew they had something that could be a hit. The risk ended up paying off as “Enjoy The Silence,” was the biggest hit for the group here in the states.

By the way, my husband is obsessed with Depeche Mode and the two of us were able to write this up together without having to look up a single thing.
