Because we love ‘em all. Here’s your 90’s Video of the Day
Nirvana - Come As You Are
Taking a cue from the band’s cover art for Nevermind, director Kevin Kerslake utilized the most ominous swimming pool ever and aside from a few artistic suggestions from Kurt, used his own style to conceptualize this video. Kurt mostly knew what colors he wanted, and insisted that the band stay blurry and distorted for the majority of the video.
Their working relationship was so good that you’ll notice Kevin is the director for several of their videos including “Sliver,” “Lithium,” and “In Bloom.”
Also I always thought it was a cool thing that the line where Kurt sings, “I don’t have a gun,” overtop the word, “Memoriam,” was an accidental overdub in the studio that was left in because it sounded cool. That’s the little magic stuff I’ve always loved.
Finally if anyone was wondering, yes Killing Joke is still very pissed about this song. I've included their song "Eighties," below in case you're not sure why.
