Because we love ‘em all. Here’s your 90’s Video of the Day
Björk - Human Behaviour
I’d argue that this is simply one of the best marriages of music to video, and the medium is one in which Björk has always excelled. Often I read horror stories of artists’ visions or meanings getting lost in the music video process, but seeing this video for the first time truly painted a picture for me who Björk was; and it’s someone who sees the world in a completely different light with a creativity and perspective that won’t be silenced.
From her album Debut, “Human Behaviour” had a percussive and foreboding heart, that sits perfectly underneath the acid tripped Goldilocks video with woodland sprite Björk at it’s creative center. She was instrumental in the look of the bear, requesting handmade and wood-like textures in an animated style. She collaborated with director Michel Gondry, inspired by a David Attenborough documentary about human to animal relationships. As Björk has clarified, this song is from the animal point of view and in the end, the animal wins.
