Here’s your 90’s Video of the Day: Alice In Chains - Them Bones

Because we love ‘em all. Here’s your 90’s Video of the Day:

Alice In Chains - Them Bones

What a way to open a record. Written by Jerry Cantrell, “Them Bones,” sounds like a vortex sucking you up and dragging you straight to hell. But Cantrell has shrugged off just how very evil it comes off lyrically and with its sinister time signature. He’s said it’s mostly about facing your mortality, not worrying about death, and enjoying your time. It appears off of the mammoth record Dirt, and for most bands you’d be lucky to have such a visceral choice cut appear anywhere on your record much less have it serve as the appetizer.

Rocky Schneck directs the video and he’s a favorite choice for the group who would use him on three more AIC videos. Here, the band is performing in some kind of underground cavern/volcano/hellscape and no not just because of Jerry Cantrell’s purple goatee. The stock footage makes it all the more creepy and oh so ’90’s. It’s two and half minutes of grunge goodness in every way.
