Because we love ‘em all. Here’s your 90’s Video of the Day:
Filter - Take A Picture
Listen, I hate flying and it takes quite a few libations to get me to be a calm enough to be a pleasant passenger. Maybe I’ve been on the edge of having a Richard Patrick experience more than I realized.
For Richard, this song was inspired by an incident on an airplane where he got very drunk, took off his clothes, and tried to fight off the flight attendants. “Take A Picture,” was his stream of conscious recall of that day and the pain and isolation around it.
Things got better for Patrick thankfully, who has allowed the song to grow with him. In an interview with Louder Sound to celebrate its 20th anniversary (which it hit in 2019), Patrick revealed he now changes the words live. "I actually sing Take My Picture differently [live, now]," he adds. "Sometimes instead of singing 'Hey dad what do you think about your son now,' I say, 'Hey son, what do you think about you dad now?' I have grown into a 51-year-old father of two. I have been sober for 16 years. I used to be the kid and now I’m the adult. All things come around. I just hope everyone still enjoys the song as much as I do. It brings me great joy to sing it after all these years."
The video was directed by Dave Meyers (who is legend when it comes to iconic music videos), and in addition to the band, features supermodel Jaime King.
