Dinosaur Jr. - Feel The Pain
I had never pegged J Mascis for much of a golfer but listen, he’s gonna play through or beat you with his club. Funny enough, this video of a golfing J Mascis and Dinosaur Jr. bassist Mike Johnson for “Feel The Pain,” was intended to be a lot more violent. They were bummed that it was instead edited to be a bit more MTV friendly (whatever that means), so the Spike Jonze directed video got a bit of a scrub.
Mascis came up with the riff and a few of the lyrics while on tour with Jesus and Mary Chain in England. Recalling it’s origins to Rolling Stone, he said, “I was singing, "I feel the pain of everyone," when I was playing the riff. Then a friend, John Brattin, who was with me, said, "and then I feel nothing." And he let me keep the line.”
Dinosaur Jr. just released their 12th studio album last week called “Sweep It Into Space.”
