Because we love ‘em all. Here’s your 90’s Video of the Day:
Mazzy Star - Fade Into You
Hope Sandoval and Dave Roback ran around the same musical circles for a long time before Mazzy Star truly came together as a duo, but when the pair finally connected, they made magic.
The dreamy album So Tonight That I Might See, brought the shy lyricist and singer into the spotlight when “Fade Into You,” became a surprise hit in 1994. It would be the biggest one the band ever had and they moved onto other musical projects by 1997. At one point there were several rumors that the band could reunite, but unfortunately Dave Roback passed away in February of 2020.
There are two separate videos for this song.
Kevin Kerslake, who also did videos for Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden and Green Day directed this first version; shot as a grainy film with some scenes shot in the Mojave Desert.
This second video is by Merlyn Rosenberg, which is black and white and gives you a sense of the band’s often shy live performances. This video was shot in San Francisco.
