Because we love ‘em all. Here’s your 90’s Video of the Day:
Crash Test Dummies - Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm
BY REQUEST from the sassy, vivacious Mike Jones…a classic and weird moment in the 90’s with the folksy storytelling sleeper hit from Crash Test Dummies.
Without the traditional makings of a hit song, Crash Test Dummies’ Brad Roberts hooked you in with perilous story after story in every verse of the song. And amazingly, these stories are not only true; they all happened to Brad. He had experienced several car accidents as a kid, yes he’s got some birthmarks he’s bothered by, and the final verse was inspired by a Pentecostal girl he knew as a child.
The song to say the least is polarizing. You love it, or the last time you were reminded of it was the time you saw it pop up on a “worst of all time,” list somewhere. In the video, director Dale Heslip decided to take the lyrics of the song and turn them into the most depressing childhood play you’ve ever seen while the band performed side stage.
The band recently reunited in 2018 to celebrate their 25th anniversary. Oh and why did he famously decide to hum the chorus of this song? Pretty simple; he never wrote any words for it.
