Here’s your 90’s Video of the Day: Foo Fighters - My Hero

Because we love ‘em all. Here’s your 90’s Video of the Day:

Foo Fighters - My Hero

Today’s the anniversary of the Foo’s releasing the Grammy nominated album, The Color And The Shape in 1997.

It’s come up many times that perhaps "My Hero" is about Dave's former Nirvana bandmate, Kurt Cobain, however Grohl saying there’s an element of Kurt in the song is about as deeply as he’ll commit. He’s distanced himself from that idea and in several interviews insisted that it’s more about heroes who are everyday people. It was why it probably ended up being such a great fit for the band to perform it as a celebration for healthcare, frontline, and essential workers during the pandemic.

However the fact that you never see the hero in the video’s face is probably your most affirming proof that the point is that heroes are indeed seen in our every day life. Dave Grohl directed the video himself and he takes the opportunity to show some flex in the big chair by doing a long-take format for the video and cleverly covering transitions with smoke. Geez, is there anything he can’t do? Sleep? Is it sleep?
