It’s been brought to my attention that Ed Sheeran and Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth are becoming pretty good friends and if that is living rent free in my mind, I just can’t do that alone.
Let’s catch you up. This is Dani Filth from Cradle of Filth. Cradle of Filth is black-gothic metal. Kinda symphonic, definitely evil.
And this is Ed Sheeran. He wrote the song your sister danced to at her wedding. Not a dry eye in the place. Seriously, I'm not going to rag on him. He's talented and there's something for everyone out there friend.
It sounds like a future sitcom, but these two unlikely friends are now talking about collaborating with each other.
Back in July, Ed told Britain's Sun that he was a fan the hard stuff as a teen. "I was really into death metal as a kid. That's something I've never thought about doing, but something I would not be opposed to creating." (Writers note: I don't think Cradle of Filth is death metal but we can Star-Wars-Level geek out about the many sub-genres of metal another time).
Filth expressed doubts at the time, but now tells Kerrang!, "I've actually been E-mailing with him… He actually touched base with me. I've been invited up to his place. Well, he said he could come down to mine, but I pointed out to him that I don't own my own bar or village, and it'd be better if I went there. He said he'd do anything, quite literally. He said he's a massive fan. He seems like a genuinely very nice guy, actually.”
