Twenty-five years ago today, two of my favorite bands merged and gave birth: Led Zeppelin and Whitesnake. Guitarist Jimmy Page and singer David Coverdale. The result was a fantastic one-off that remains very underrated. Robert Plant was afraid the union might work BIG; that’s why he immediately lured Page away from Coverdale and reunited Zeppelin (kind 0f).
A quarter-century later, please join me in bearing witness. “Coverdale/Page” was awesome. Much better than “Walking into Clarksdale.”
