I’ve said recently that Conor Sheary would not be in my playoff lineup if all the Penguins forwards are healthy.
But recently, and especially yesterday evening, Sheary is making his case for inclusion.
Sheary’s game-tying third-period goal at Columbus last night included second, third and fourth effort. Maybe more. I lost count.
Sheary needs to do better defensively, make fewer turnovers and win more loose pucks. But when a 5-foot-8 Kenny the Kangaroo-looking wing physically holds off an elite 6-2 defenseman (Zach Werenski) to earn multiple cracks at scoring and finally cashes in, he’s making a strong case to get a jersey for Game 1 of the first round.
Sheary has three goals in the last four games, and 18 on the season. More of the same, please.
