Le'Veon Bell no-showed the New York Jets' mini-camp and got criticized. He posted a defense on social media:
“I got to stick to the formula that I know works for me to be the best player I can be. I’m not just tryna win football games, I want a ring! I want to desperately show everybody what I can REALLY do ... I’ll take the heat right now, everybody will forget about that once January comes around.”
But you've got to get to January before you talk about January. The Jets won't.
Bell talks a good game. Always has. But it's more important to show up for work.
The Jets will suck. Bell will be out for the season by November. Forget about January. Bell will pull the chute long before.
Full disclosure: The workouts Bell missed were voluntary.
But Bell hasn't played football since 2017. The Jets have a second-year quarterback in Sam Darnold. Adam Gase is in his first season as Jets head coach. The Jets are coming off a 4-12 season and seem in constant transition.
Bell didn't have to be there. But he should have been.
It's fun to witness this crap from afar. The Toxic Twins aren't the Steelers' problem anymore.
BTW, what "formula" is Bell talking about? No one has ever seemed to have less of a formula, unless it involves cellulite-plagued strippers and looking fat on a jet ski.
