Fernando Torres, 35, has retired after an 18-year career in professional football.
Torres won the World Cup (2010) and two European championships (2008, ’12) with Spain. In his club career, he won the Champions League (2011-12) and Europa League (2012-13). For 10 days in 2013, he held all four of those championships simultaneously.
Torres spent four seasons (2007-11) with Liverpool FC, scoring 65 goals in 102 games. “El Nino” was magnificent, a complete striker with no weaknesses. He had pace, intelligence, trickery and a deadly finish.
