“The Hunt” opens in theaters Sept. 27.
The phrase that pays: “From the producer of ‘The Purge.’ ”
The plot is the same as the 1994 movie, “Surviving the Game” and the 1924 short story, “The Most Dangerous Game.” Privileged humans hunt other humans for sport.
“Surviving the Game” is a tough act to follow. Ice-T was badass. Gary Busey was nuts. "The Most Dangerous Game" has been called the most popular short story ever written in English.
But if “The Hunt” is as dark and sinister as its trailer, count me in. It’s “Purge”-level creepy. That’s a good thing.
