This is where I’m happiest. This is Anfield. This means more.
Friday night's 4-1 victory over Norwich City began with those present performing a medley not heard since 2005: “You’ll Never Walk Alone” segueing immediately and loudly into, “We are the champions! Champions of Europe!” It was wonderful to sing, chant and experience that.
I hadn’t been to Anfield since 2011. The level of hospitality displayed by all is indescribable. Liverpool FC supporters really are special.
Not least Jeff McCandless and his lovely wife, Nikki. My radio show must be doing OK if I bump into listeners on the Anfield stadium tour. Photos are courtesy of them, because I’m a low-tech redneck with a crap phone. But these are nice to have.
