“The Deuce” is a gem, even among an admittedly impressive list of HBO original series. It stars James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal and dramatizes the rise of the porn industry in New York City during the ‘70s and ‘80s.
The third and final season begins Monday and details porn’s quantum leap from film (watched in theaters) to home video. The internet isn’t even lurking yet.
