SAME OL’ SITUATION

Rolling Stone reports that Motley Crue will be touring again. Specifically, that Def Leppard, Motley Crue and Poison will play stadium shows in 2020.

I’m not sure that lineup is strong enough to sell out stadiums, especially with Leppard having done an extensive U.S. tour in 2018. Selected baseball parks, maybe.

Motley Crue did a “farewell tour” in 2014 and ’15. As a long-time Motley aficionado, I went to their “final” show on New Year’s Eve ‘15 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The members had signed a “cessation of touring” agreement that could not be voided unless all four agreed. Now, apparently, they have.

Make no mistake, I’ll be happy to see Motley perform again. Nobody does a legit “farewell tour.” They have to die. Heck, Lynyrd Skynyrd is mostly dead, and it hasn’t stopped them. Their “farewell tour” has been going on for years. Same with Kiss.

So, one more time (at least): SHOUT! SHOUT! SHOUT!

(One potential obstacle: Rumor is that the other members of Motley want singer Vince Neil to shed some weight. Neil didn’t exactly look the part on the “farewell tour,” and vocally he’d collapse lines of lyrics into a couple words by way of saving breath.)
