STEELERS MUST KEEP HEYWARD

Steelers DE Cam Heyward will be entering the last season of his six-year contract. He will make $9.5 million. Heyward is primed for a bump up to the $16m range.

The Steelers might be reluctant to pay that. Heyward is 31. NFL revenues will drop precipitously because of the pandemic. That means a lower salary cap.

But the Steelers simply must pay what's required to keep Heyward.

Never mind Heyward being first-team All-Pro last season and in 2017. Heyward is the compass of the Steelers’ locker room and a thoroughly good man. The two leaders the Steelers can’t afford to be without are Heyward and C Maurkice Pouncey.

Heyward is a latter-day Troy Polamalu. He dominates on the field and oozes class with every move and statement made away from the gridiron.

Price be damned, the Steelers absolutely must keep Heyward.
