Last night’s ESPN “30 for 30” on late martial-arts superstar Bruce Lee was excellent. The most amazing part was learning that Lee came up with the idea for the TV series “Kung Fu” but was nudged out of the project. David Carradine got the lead. A white guy played a half-Chinese Shaolin monk. TV was like that then, and maybe still is.
The most fun part was watching Lee’s movie fights vs. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Chuck Norris. Abdul-Jabbar did well for fighting in underwear and sunglasses.
