The Penguins’ reacquisition of RW Kasperi Kapanen from Toronto is the talk of the day. But don’t let last night’s lambasting of Philadelphia by the New York Islanders get lost in the shuffle.
Four-nil to the Islanders. Hotshot Carter Hart looks decidedly mortal in the Flyers’ goal. Philadelphia’s top six scoring threats (Jakub Voracek, Claude Giroux, Kevin Hayes, Sean Couturier, Travis Konecny and James van Riemsdyk) have two even-strength goals between them in seven playoff games. JVR has been a healthy scratch three times.
Philadelphia trails, one game to none. Game 2 is tomorrow.
The Flyers are still my pick to win this second-round series, and the Stanley Cup, too. But I like the rut they currently find themselves stuck in.
Have you ever seen the Flyers win the Cup?
(BTW, hockey in August is just plain weird.)
