CHRIS JERICHO: ORIGIN EDITION

Chris Jericho joins me at 5:30 p.m. to celebrate his 30 years in wrestling!

As an appetizer, peruse these matches from 1990, Jericho’s very early days when he was fresh out of Stu Hart’s wrestling school in Calgary. The second video is Jericho's second bout ever.

Jericho tags with Lance Storm in both bouts. Then called Sudden Impact, they were later (and better) known as the Thrillseekers in Smoky Mountain Wrestling.

Smoky Mountain was Jericho’s first breakthrough in American wrestling. He spent 1994 in SMW before moving onto Extreme Championship Wrestling in 1995, World Championship Wrestling in 1996 and WWE in 1999. Currently with All Elite Wrestling, Jericho has also worked all over the globe. He will be one of the last wrestlers to put together such an incredibly diverse resume.

Jericho is also a rock ‘n’ roll star. His band, Fozzy, will be at Jergel’s in Warrendale on April 4 (pandemic permitting).

Back when these matches took place, however, Jericho was just a rookie learning his craft. He got better. So did the video production used for his matches. But these bouts are nonetheless a slice of vintage Jericho.
