Fernando Tatis Jr. is a hotshot shortstop for San Diego. He dislocated his shoulder by merely swinging his bat. Tatis Jr. might need surgery and be out for months.
Injuries like this could be and should be prevented.
All hitters should be on a strict swing count, especially this early in the season. Five swings a game, no more. Then use a substitute. Expand rosters. Safety first.
Hitters should also be taught to not swing as violently as Tatis Jr. did.Generating power isn’t important enough to put a man’s health at risk. Think career. Think life after baseball. Think family. What about the children?
